What is Holistic Beauty & Why?

If you've ever received an acupuncture treatment, you'll know that what sets us apart from other practitioners is that we ask MANY questions that may or may not seem related to the reason you came in for your treatment. And this is because acupuncture is a holistic therapy. Unlike purely physical therapy where you may be able to receive dry needling, your acupuncturist wants to understand the puzzle pieces of your medical history that shape the why's and how's of your symptoms... the mental, emotional, social, genetic and physical aspects that underlie your present situation. Not only does it inform the manner in which we select your acupoint prescription (and herbs or other modalities included in your treatment plan), but also because this is the best way to create the change that you seek... by investigating and understanding how we got here in the first place.
We can look at aesthestics in a similar way: holistic beauty is whole person beauty... so when you come to Olive Tree Acu for an esthetic service, you will of course be treated on a root cause level. And again, this is what sets us as holistic practitioners apart from other specialists - we understand that beauty is not just an outside job. Rather, we are committed to addressing your beauty and physique goals by treating you from within and by tailoring your treatment to your individual needs.
So, for example, when you come in for your Facial Rejuvenation treatment whether you're simply looking to relax and reset (which is a massively underrated beauty enhancer!), or you have specific complaints like acne, dullness, lines or wrinkles, tension, asymmetry, headaches, congestion, etc... your treatment plan will always aim to address the "symptom" as well as the underlying imbalance/disharmony/pathology that created it. I want to investigate the "why" behind your "11 lines" (i.e. glabellar lines) ... is it frustration & irritability combined with dehydrated facial tissue? Frequent squinting due to visual challenges caused by deficiency? Tension due to fatigue and overwhelm? Whatever it be - my treatment approach will reflect and support what we've discovered.
What that looks like at your actual appointment: First a check-in / little chat while I listen & observe (your expressions, speech, breath patterns, movements, etc.), then a look at your tongue & feel of your pulse, followed by getting you comfy on the treatment table with pillows & bolsters & heaters as needed, then finally proceeding with a series of modalities and skincare products that are selected, ordered, & administered according to your unique needs. After your treatment, you will be advised on any personalized post-treatment protocols, recommendations, expectations... and bid adieu with a cup of herbal tea.

Remember - holistic beauty means whole person beauty - the type of beauty that doesn't come from extensions & fillers, or even green juices & collagen powders.
True, lasting beauty is something deeper, like character.
Something akin to peace and grace.
It must be cultivated, tended.
This kind of beauty, like wisdom...
blooms in the heart and sparkles in the eyes.
So I extend my olive branch and invite you to experience a bit of refuge and tranquility... to tend your inner garden... at Olive Tree Acu.
